Overview
Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalayas’ eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. In the High Himalayas, peaks such as 7,326m Jomolhari are popular trekking destinations. Paro Taktsang monastery (also known as Tiger’s Nest) clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley.
Trip Highlights
Upon arrival at the Paro International Airport, complete the immigration process at the airport, then meet our local representative who will help you with your transfer to Thimphu. Upon reaching, head directly to the hotel & complete the check-in formalities. The rest of the day at leisure you’ll be free to explore the nearby local market of Thimphu. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu.
Wake up this morning and enjoy a delicious breakfast. After breakfast driver will pick you up from the hotel for the local sightseeing which includes, National Memorial, Buddha Statue, and Motithang Takin Preserve. Next visit Tashichho Dzong, Simtokha Dzong the oldest Dzong of Bhutan, and Handicrafts Emporium followed by shopping for souvenirs at the local markets in Thimphu. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
Wake up this morning and enjoy a delicious breakfast. After check-out, the driver will pick you up from the hotel for the transfer to Punakha. En route, make a stopover at Dochula Pass and visit Chimi Lhakhang, and Punakha Dzong. Then the driver will drop you off at the pre-booked hotel in Punakha, and complete the check-in formalities. Dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel
The day begins with the morning breakfast. Post breakfast, the driver will pick you up for transfer to Paro. On reaching, check in to the hotel and take some rest. You'll then, visit Drukgyel Dzong a fortress and Buddhist monastery, next explore Kichu Lhakhang, built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo Namgyal. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Start your day with a healthy breakfast and then proceed for an excursion to Taktsang Monastery. Reach the base of the trail to Tiger's Nest from where a 6.5 km hike will take you to the monastery. The trail climbs through a beautiful pine forest and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags to reach Taktsang. Take a break at Taktsang Cafeteria located mid-way and then climb 700 steps at the last leg of the hike. Later, return back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Enjoy the morning with a delicious breakfast. Check out from the hotel and the driver will help you with the transfer back to the Paro International Airport with a huge smile.
